Potential problems in pond water cannot be detected visually. Ponds need to be tested regularly to get a clearer picture of what is in the water. Regular use of Laguna Quick Test provides pond keepers with essential information required to maintain perfect pond health. Each test strip measures pH, total hardness, total alkalinity, nitrite, and nitrate levels.

Two of the most important tests are those for verifying pH and alkalinity levels. The pH value will tell you whether water is acidic or alkaline, while the alkalinity value is a big factor in how stable pH will be. Pond plants and fish require an optimal pH range to thrive.

It is important to be aware of the pH level because it greatly affects fish and plant health, ammonia toxicity, algae growth and biological filtration. Total hardness, nitrite and nitrate levels should also be tested in order to maintain optimal pond conditions.

Laguna Quick Test strips provide quick results. Simply dip one test strip in the water sample for 2 seconds without motion. Remove briskly sideways to prevent tests from running into each other. Shake the test strip once to remove excess water droplets. Wait 25 seconds and match pH, Total Alkalinity, and Total Hardness with the chart on the side of the bottle. Then match colors for Nitrite and Nitrate at 1 minute, evaluate the results, and take appropriate action if necessary.
